What's Your Style? Bohemian

Updated: May 18, 2021

Sometimes one of the most difficult parts of design is narrowing down a specific style or styles you want to work within. For this blog series, I will be breaking down some top design styles, how to incorporate them and even top places to shop. Today's style is Bohemian or Boho.

When thinking Bohemian think free-spirited with a fun mix of different cultures and artistic vibes. There are layers and variety of bold colors, patterns and textures. This style loves incorporating aspects from nature, so expect to see lots of greenery from house plants or more natural looking elements like woven wall hangings. There should be a collected over time feel. Imagine artifacts from ones travels, flea market art finds and cool hidden thrift store treasures. Being such an eclectic style can either make for really fun shopping and design or feeling completely overwhelmed.

If you love this style, but are feeling overwhelmed already, that's ok! Here are some great places to shop when going in a boho direction. First is World Market. Remember, you want that eclectic free-spirit vibe. World Market is a great place to shop for a ton of fun variety. My other choices are Target and Homegoods. Quick side note on Homegoods... It is probably one of my favorite places to shop for planters, rugs, kitchen accessories and the list goes on. But, if you find a piece you think you love but aren't sure how it will work in your space... BUY IT! The downside to a place like Homegoods is what they have, is what they have. There is no guarantee it will be there 5 min from now. I hope this post helped clarify the boho style for you. As always, I am here to help with any of your decorating wants and needs.
